Be The Truth

I have been in the health, fitness, nutrition and sports performance industry for thirty years.

Dare I call myself an expert or a master in this field? I am not sure if that is up to me to decide or if it even matters how I label myself.

How I took a chance on myself recently is to allow myself to be a beginner again.

After three hard crashes on my gravel bike late last year, I came across a practice called Qi Gong.

I was looking for a kinder and gentler way to exercise, but still get all of the benefits of movement.

I was drawn to Qi Gong. Qi means energy and Gong means skill. It’s the skill of working with energy.

It is a form of inner martial arts developed by the Chinese that aligns breath, movement and awareness.

The practice has been around for over 4000 years, but it is completely new to me.

True to my nature, when I decide to learn something, I usually go all in.

I decided to sign up for a 200 hour certification program to become a certified Holden Qi Gong practitioner.

I am about seven months into the certification in hopes of attaining my official certification by the beginning of September.

I just finished my second required practical session to get certified with a Qi Gong Master Trainer.

It is humbling to have thirty years of experience as a personal trainer and feel like a beginner as a Qi Gong teacher.

One thing that the Qi Gong Master trainer said to me really stood out. She said simply, “Be the truth.” To embody what I am teaching.

Be it.

Live it.

Model it.

Model the flow.

Be in my power.

Be confident and at ease.

It was a good reminder to walk the walk and not worry about talking the talk.

Embody it first and use words if necessary. A good principal to live by in life in general.

Through my actions and how I live my life my hope is that  people will be inspired simply by how I embody being the truth.

That the people I cross paths with will say, “Whatever you got, I want it!”

That is the possibility I see when I live my truth.
