Getting Our I AM Right

I-Am-Affirmations.-iamaffirmations-positiveaffirmations-iam

What we say after these two words, “I AM”, defines how we live our lives.

Richard Rohr in his book Immortal Diamond: The Search for Our True Self talks about getting our I AM right. When we get our I AM right, everything else in our lives falls into place.

Try this experiment. Say to yourself, “I am tired”. Now say to yourself, “I am energized”. My guess is that your body instantly felt different depending if you told yourself you are tired or energized.

Now try this. Say to yourself “I am a broken sinner”. Now let’s change that to “I am a child of God who is a saint that sins”. How does that change your perspective on who you are?

The words we speak to ourselves are powerful.

What voice are we going to listen to?

The one that says we are broken or the one that says we are a precious child of God that is deeply loved?

I know I have too often listened to the former voice rather than the latter.

How would we live our life differently if we got our “I AM” right?

How would we live are life if are I AM’s were defined by what God says about us instead of the world, our harsh inner critic and the enemy?

I know my life would be more joyful, lighter and a lot more fun.

Here is a powerful list of I AM statements from the Bible. I want to encourage you to replace your self-deprecating I AM statements to one of these I AM statements that speak to your soul.

This is What God Says about Us
